info

Having worked in the past as an in-house translator for several years has given me the advantage of dealing with a great variety of fields, formats and CAT tools. Besides, since I understand its importance, I offer a prompt reply to e-mails and queries and meeting the agreed deadlines.

Regarding the software skills, I use the main CAT tools in the market, such as Trados Studio 2015, MemSource and SDLX, of which I am also an advanced user. I also use Xbench and Verifika to ensure high quality translations and consistency. On the right column you will find a complete list.

I specialize in the localization of video games, mobile phone apps (even with character limitations) for Android and iOS, Android software strings for the SDK package and the translation of user manualstechnical texts and IT texts (including its corresponding Marketing material).

Work

experience

Part-time translator.

2003 - 2009

During this period I carried out a few translation jobs, mainly for direct clients who needed help with jobs such as:

  • Website translation (technical, education)

  • Touristic guides.

Full-time translator.

2010 - present

After getting my Master’s Degree, I have been able to gain experience both as a freelance and as an in-house translator. My client portfolio includes mostly Translation Agencies or LSPs from USA and several European countries.

By working under pressure to meet the tight deadlines of some clients, I have improved my computer skills, although I consider technology a personal interest. I have learnt about different translation tools and any other programs that I have needed to use along my career very quickly. I was already well-versed in the use of the MS Office applications and, after my Master’s Degree studies and through my current experience, I am also well-versed in the use of translation and quality assurance programs, such as QA Distiller and Xbench.

Other functions carried out as an in-house translator:

  • Translation quality assurance of external translations, especially into Spanish and English.

  • Assistance in the preparation of files for the Project Managers to send to external translators.

  • Preparation and maintenance of termbases for the external translators using SDL MultiTerm.

  • Maintenance of translation memories using Trados Workbench, SDLX or SDL Trados Studio 2009/2011.

  • Technical assistance to colleagues in the use of translation programs, especially the newer Trados version (SDL Trados Studio 2009/2011), for which I prepared the company’s own User’s Guide for external translators and for Project Managers.

  • Use of the internal translation workflow management tool, XTRF, in order to keep track of the tasks, rate translators, inform Project Managers of a finished task, etc.
